FAQs

If you messaged or emailed Stray Cat Network and were directed to this page automatically, please read through our FAQ to see if your question is answered here. If not, feel free to send us a follow-up correspondence.

how do I adopt?

If you are interested in adopting from us, please fill out the adoption application which can be found on our home page. Please be sure to read the paragraph at the top of the form thoroughly, as it provides important information regarding our adoption procedures. Kittens do best in pairs to keep each other company, and applications for pairs will usually be processed first. At this time we do not adopt out kittens under 6 months old to be only cats.

IS (X) KITTEN/CAT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION?

Please visit the Adoptables page on our website and/or our petfinder page to view what kittens we have available. If the kitten you are interested in is not listed, that means they are not yet available for adoption. Applications submitted for kittens before they become available will NOT be considered.

what vetting will my cat/kitten receive before adoption?

All our cats and kittens are spayed/neutered, fiv/felv tested, dewormed, and receive rabies and FVRCP vaccines before adoption. They will also receive appropriate treatment for any other illness or injury they may have. No cat or kitten is available for adoption until all of this is completed.

DID YOU RECEIVE MY APPLICATION?

We are a small organization with one volunteer processing all of our adoption applications. Please allow us a minimum of 5-7 days to review your submission and we will reach out to you as soon as we can to either accept or reject.

Can you help me with feral cats?

Please fill out the Assistance Request Form linked on our home page if you are in need of help. We offer equipment loans and appropriate training for trapping feral cats as well as lost pets within the Dutchess County area. We also provide TNR services when we are able.

will you board/temporarily foster my pet cat(s)?

No. We are a foster based rescue without a holding facility, and we do not offer boarding services. Our foster homes are exclusively to house animals that are surrendered into the rescue, and for us to take any such animal you must relinquish full ownership to us. The only way to regain ownership of the animal is to then apply for re-adoption.

Can i get a donation receipt?

If you have made a donation that you would like a tax receipt for, please email us at straycatnetwork@gmail.com. All donations are tax deductible. Monetary donations over $250.00 USD will automatically receive a tax receipt as required by law.
